Why AV Janus ?

I’m Cédric Astier, founder of AV Janus.

You may know me through Empire des Monnaies, a company specialized in buying and selling collectible coins. This first venture allowed me to gain an in-depth knowledge of the numismatic market—far beyond my initial expectations.

But over time, I noticed certain structural limitations:

Some coins I wanted to offer had become inaccessible or even unprofitable. At the same time, I was receiving more and more targeted requests — from people looking to sell a specific coin or acquire another, equally specific one.

It was becoming clear that a more tailored, flexible, and discreet approach was needed.

And that’s how AV Janus was born: a structure designed to meet the needs of discerning collectors and savvy sellers, offering a coin-sourcing service and direct connection with trusted buyers.

The name AV Janus is no coincidence.

The “A” stands for Acquisition, the “V” for Vente (Sale) — and Janus, the Roman god with two faces, symbolizes balance and dual vision: one looking toward acquisition, the other toward transmission.
